Playing the stock exchange; a skill obtained at birth?

People were born to be good traders; one of the biggest myths in trading and investing.

To become a good trader, hard graft and a lot of practice needs to be done in order to develop trading into a skill.

Naively, I assumed that a successful strategy of playing the stock market is just about buying the shares at a low price and selling them when the price is raised. In theory that may work, however unless one has a huge disposable income, one is more often than not just likely to lose all their money very quickly, due to lack of knowledge and skill.

In practice, playing the stock market is a very risky business and sometimes even the biggest investors lose. Strategy formulation is therefore essential to success.

Anyone can become a successful trader if they put their mind to the task and learn. It does however take time, a fundamental lesson I learnt today.
